How does the assessment of ingredients and products work?
Based on the assessed properties of an ingredient, complex calculations are used to determine an overall rating for the product. For easier understanding, the ratings are shown using five different smileys in traffic-light colors, ranging from very good to very poor.
So that neutral properties and ingredients such as water do not influence the rating negatively or positively, they are shown as neutral with a yellow smiley.
Please note that some third-party products were assessed a long time ago. However, these ratings are no longer aligned with today’s assessments and standards. For example, 10 years ago a cream containing parabens could still achieve a “Good” rating.
